The purpose of the CEN web site is to inform the public about opportunities to get involved in environmental issues in the greater Chicago metropolitan area and to promote public participation in environmental activities. The CEN office is located at Brookfield Zoo, 3300 Golf Road, Brookfield, Illinois 60513. Brookfield Zoo and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency provide funding for CEN. Argonne National Laboratory, a division of the U.S. Department of Energy, provides technical development and maintenance of the CEN Web site.

The Chicago Wilderness consortium is another partnership working to protect our natural resources. The mission of Chicago Wilderness is to protect, restore, study and manage the natural ecosystems of the Chicago region, enrich local residents' quality of life, and contribute to the preservation of global biodiversity. Member organizations offer a wide variety of opportunities that let you participate in conservation activities and educational programs.
