Crew Supervisor

Salary:	$21.50+ DOE
Duties and Responsibilities:	• Oversee the daily operation of a crew • Supervise and oversee crews on projects • Assist in onsite training of crew members • Regular reporting on trainee performance • Work with staff to resolve personnel issues • Load, maintain, and inventory assigned equipment • Ensure crew is wearing necessary personal protective equipment at all times • Learn, teach, and apply safety practices • Ensure all required tools and equipment are transported to the site and are in proper working order • Engage participants and provide additional training • Attend and contribute to weekly supervisor meetings • Properly plant and care for trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals. • Apply herbicides as needed to control invasive species • Construct hardscapes such as fencing, raised beds, benches, etc... • Maintain mature landscape projects through hand weeding, brush cutting, edging, hedge trimming, and mulching • Operate chainsaw, chipper, and other equipment • Operate all trucks & equipment in a safe and responsible manner • Transport crew members in Greencorps vehicles • Identify local plant species, particularly invasive plants • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:	• At least 21 years of age • Ability to lift 50 pounds • Valid driver’s license with good driving record (insurable) • Previous work experience in landscape maintenance, ecological restoration, tree care, or green infrastructure • Previous experience with industry equipment and tools • Licensed Illinois Pesticide Applicator (testing opportunities provided by Greencorps upon hire) • First Aid/CPR/AED certification (training provided by Greencorps upon hire) • S130/190 or Chicago Wilderness Rx Burn Crew Member certification a plus • Pass random drug screenings • Able to work Monday – Friday, occasional Saturdays
